During an episode of Florida Medical Association podcast Medicine Curated, Dr. Sanjay Pattani, Medical Director for Mission Control and Associate Chief Medical Officer for AdventHealth Orlando, talked about the genesis of their Mission Control Command Center.

It’s a story that starts on a March day in 2016, when AdventHealth Central Florida had to stop accepting any new admissions and transfers because they had reached maximum capacity. As Pattani explains, “To shut the doors to a quaternary healthcare system -- that's catastrophic.”
The day became an inflection point for their entire enterprise. With strong leadership from the top down, they searched for a way to improve patient flow and eliminate their throughput and access constraints.

Their solution: the creation of a Command Center. Called Mission Control, it enables a seamless, innovative, and accessible patient-centered care model. By harnessing real time data and predictive analytics, Mission Control helps the organization effectively manage the resources available at any given time. “The crux of a Command Center is really to coordinate, communicate, and facilitate collaboration across the system,” shares Pattani.
